Privacy notice

How this website collects and uses information when you explore GCC, contact our team or apply for a learning opportunity.

01

Who this notice covers

This notice applies to the GCC Skills Development website and its online enquiry, learner application and certificate request forms. GCC Skills Development forms part of Gauteng City College (Pty) Ltd.

Head office: Forum 6, Braam Park, 33 Hoofd Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg.

02

Information you provide

Depending on the form you use, we collect:

  • Your name, email address and telephone number.
  • Your company, service interests and enquiry message.
  • For learner applications: your SA ID or passport number, province, preferred campus and highest qualification.
  • Disability information you supply to help assess and support your application.
  • Supporting documents you upload, such as identification, qualifications, a CV and proof of residence.
  • For certificate requests: the qualification and completion year needed to locate your records.

Please provide accurate details and only upload documents relevant to your request.

03

How the information is used

We use form submissions to respond to enquiries, assess learner applications, verify supporting information, arrange relevant follow-up and locate certificate records. Application and certificate requests receive a reference so our team can identify the submission.

Submitting a form does not guarantee acceptance, funding, a placement or employment. Required fields are marked in the form; without those details, we may be unable to process your request.

04

Access, service providers and security

Website submissions are handled through our website and data-hosting services. Applicant records and uploaded documents are restricted to authorised staff roles. Identity numbers and disability details use encrypted database fields.

Our hosting and communications providers process technical information needed to deliver the website and its messages. Depending on their infrastructure, processing may take place outside South Africa. Contact GCC if you need details about the providers and safeguards relevant to your information.

If your application progresses to a programme, admissions can explain any further information required by an employer, training partner or quality-assurance body.

05

Keeping your information

The online application and certificate request system sets an initial retention review date of 12 months after submission. Programme administration, an ongoing request or legal recordkeeping duties may require a different period. Contact the team to ask about the retention period that applies to your records.

Enquiry information is used to handle and follow up your request. You may ask GCC to review whether it is still needed.

06

Cookies and technical information

The staff administration area uses a session cookie to keep authorised staff signed in. Website delivery and security services may process request information, including an IP address and browser details, to operate the service and prevent abuse.

You can manage cookies through your browser. Blocking essential cookies may prevent staff sign-in from working. Links to other websites are governed by those websites’ own privacy notices.

07

Your choices and questions

You may ask about the information GCC holds about you, request a correction, or raise a concern about its use. Rights to object or request deletion depend on the circumstances and applicable law. See our POPIA notice for how to make a request.

This notice may be updated when the website or its information practices change. The date on this page identifies the latest website notice update.
